Life Happens

Do people wake up thinking this may be my last day on earth? Did Christina Grimmie wake up last Friday and think today maybe my last day on earth so I am going to make it the best ever?  Did those 49 people going out for a random night of partying at Pulse nightclub think how their life would be cut short? Same for that poor family of the 2 year old boy who was tragically killed by the alligator at Disney?
If we are all lucky enough to wake up in the morning we are thinking of what the million things we need to accomplish before our feet touch the ground from our beds. But maybe instead we should take a moment and just breathe.  Life happens whether we want to try and slow things down, it happens.  The three tragedies in Orlando really hammered this point home.
We are all so consumed with our daily routines, schedules, planning for the future but what if the future is not to be?  We need to learn how to live better in the here and now. If it’s rainy then dance in the rain so to speak.  Celebrate the moment because once that moment has passed you won’t be able to recapture it.  We need to live in the present because all to often we think if only I had this in my life,my life would be complete . Whatever that elusive thing is I assure you is not the be all and end all to happiness.
Living in the moment is something we all need to do. It’s a sure way to achieve happiness. I am not saying don’t plan for the future. I am saying don’t get so wrapped up in planning that you forget to live in the moment. Remember life is not defined by how many breaths you take but how moments have the ability to take your breath away.
Life is such a gift. I think that point was made very clearly this past week. We need to choose happiness and celebration in light of all the tragedy. Anything else it seems would be a waste of precious energy and time. None of us knows our expiration date and we need to go out out of this world the same way we came into it kicking and screaming. Enjoy the the ride!!
